what a surprise!
January 28, 2007and what a small world!
funrun is finally over! (but it lived up to its name! the jaw-dropping moments, the tummy-aching laughters, and the exhilarating experiences were undeniably great! — but this is not my entry…)
after our late check out (traders hotel), we decided to have a late lunch. the destination: avenetto - glorietta.
certainly, expect the unexpected.
as we are having our lunch at aveneto, carl (ex-hubby of mimai; he committed something bad…really bad to her; thus, the unexpected break-up) and his family arrived.
mimai was in the middle of her story about carl when the latter arrived. all jackie could do was to gasp while saying "Oh, my God! Oh, my God! We didn't know who's god she's calling him and why she's summoning him. she managed to blurt out the name. and we understood why she was calling God.
it was an intense moment, i guess, more to mimai. had she been sitting on jackie's chair, she would have seen carl for the very first time since that heart-crashing break-up day (or night, whenever). nevertheless, it was still an exciting, awkward, funny, unbelievable incident all rolled in one.
i was seated right across mimai. i saw in her eyes the pain was rushing back in. the pain she's been trying to relegate to obscurity. the pain she's painstakingly removed from her broken soul. but the incident desrtroyed the wall; and ugly memories seeped in.
so near and yet so far. we were seated two tables away from carl. in spite of what happeened, we managed to laugh–to the best of our abilities.
mimai revealed to us that when we were still and the car and decided to eat at aveneto, her hear heart started to beat faster than normal. she knew, at that time, the possiblity of seeing carl was high.
and the girl's instinct was right.
beyond the veil of laughter, the pain shines more in her eyes. no one could hide that our party was affected of the incident. we wouldn't tell stories (true or otherwise) if we were not affected. we just wanted to turn the drama into something digestible.
we couldn't blame her.
the guy committed something deplorable that has given a reason for a whole organization to hate him and the new girlfriend.
i pity him, honestly. he lost mimai and his best friend (in this whole wide world).
so, there…
what a day it was.
*sparkles!
