laughing and eating in circles
December 20, 2006yesterday was a red letter day for the five of us. it was the scheduled uber-exclusive dinner in celebration of mommy jo's birthday. well, it was not actually a whole-day red letter day for everyone. Most of us had to attend first our scheduled meetings early morning. 08:00AM, videoshoot at accenture (mommies and jackie); while i sashayed the pavements of ortigas business district for my ocular inspection at crowne plaza (for our robinsons client). it was a run-there-drive-here scene yesterday for most of us.
then, the much-awaited text message arrived. (the location for the dinner was revealed later that afternoon).
dinner at 7pm at circles (in makati shangri-la). voila! it was my first time there.
rewind. after the ocular inspection, miss jenny, liz, and i headed to their office somewhere in eastwood. we had our looooooong meeting for their suppliers' night. well, it was not a meeting per se. i just needed to kill time waiting for mommy jo's text. then, at around 4pm, i finally decided to leave. my first plan was to go to shangri-la mall to freshen up. scarcity of cab and heavy traffic compelled me to drop the plan. i headed directly to glorietta makati. at rustan's, i made a super quick outfit change…at the children's deparment restroom. when i failed to meet them at a particular location, i had to run to shangri-la hotel's main lobby. there, finally, i saw the also-tired gurls of digicon wizard. (ace was still nowhere to be found at this point).we went directly to the restroom located at the second floor–they freshened up, while i had my second round of "self-pampering."
as we entered the place, one could see the understated elegance the place evokes. for someone who would be entering the polished place (from floor to ceiling), i was a bit intimidated–of the people, of the food, generally, of the whole place. but then again, since this is a welcomed "first," might as well, enjoy the thrilling experience. as we reached the middle of the place, all eyes are rolling…looking for the perfect spot to start. oh geeze, at this point, revolution was about to start in my tummy.
we were seated at table 39. good place, i thought. for sure we wouldn't be acting shoshal; knowing us…every time, we're given the opportunity to laugh, all (social) rules will surely fly off the window!
(up until this time, ace was still flying somewhere…)
the four of us couldn't wait for ace any longer. we really had to fill in the empty stomachs. first stop. greens. with the biggest service bowl (i've seen) and the matching buffed guy serving the greens, i was dead sure it would be a topic of discussion. and i wasn't wrong.
after this, i couldn't trace where did we go. the last thing i know, we were all laughing with the now famous "dentures" joke…and the way mommy ria called the server…uhm "manong!" ahahahah! it made all of us laugh…no manongs here…sir or mister only… (madamme for women) ahaahha!
that night was unforgettable…it was simply perfect. perfect place. f-o-o-d (should i say more?), wonderful occasion, on top of it, everything was experienced with the four people i l-o-v-e…
i actually didn't feel i was inside one of the most celebrated restos in the metro today. i didn't feel i was eating among with the society's who's who (hehhe..feeling)… it's more of the laughters and the jokes that we shared that i remember the most.
haaay… simply amazing…
*sparkles!
