November 29, 2006

finally, on november 22, i've explained to ace why i decided to sacrifice my first-ever CDO trip just to plan for our cancelled presentation.

as expected, we were on opposite poles.

ace is one of those people who respects the "arguments" of the other side. that's why i love talking to him. he always maintains his equanimity.

at the end of the day, an open line is always important to understanding both sides.

the storm.

my whereabouts for the past days have been unknown. consequently, i failed to post since the last one. a lot has happened since nov. 18 until today. i'll be breaking the stories until i've nothing to talk about.

i'm depressed particularly today–well, for the most part of the day. something has been bothering me since monday? i hope i got that right. i committed something wrong. of all people, to my beloved inahing ria.

i confess to have committed the following:

1. didn't go with them on our meeting with robinsons. an account we got through me.
2. didn't tell her of "my" schedule last monday (27 nov.). fine. i told her about it but it was a short notice.
3. didn't attend of the dinner with rina because i attended miguel's taping.
4. miscommunication with regard to the robinson's proposal.
5. (i forgot to place it on top of the list…that's why i'm acting as if i didn't forget) and, the thing that started it all (on my opinion), suggesting something to the client without consulting her. (but the suggestion was made in good faith, really).

no more explanations. all WRONG.

today, we had a meeting with amway. the thing that i feared the most (and expected…) happened. i felt she was mad at me. and she has all the right (see list). towards the end, though, things went on the right track (or that's what i felt…). i've sent my apology e-mail, nevertheless. just hoping things would go really the right direction after the letter. i'm just waiting for a reply…

what's with the title? it's connected with the dream i had yesterday. as i've mentioned earlier, i felt something was wrong. and that prescience affected me so much. i went to sleep early yesterday; a record-breaking, 0830PM. something i last did when i was in elementary. only to wake up around 1200MN. since i couldn't go back to sleep, i had to read Elie Wiesel's NIGHT (if you're following my previous posts, you'll know why i bought that book). After three hours of being awake, i went to bed again. i think that was the time i had this terrible dream. in that surreal place, the five members of digicon wizard was somewhere either in Eastwood or in the fort. Mommy Ria and Mommy Jo were nowhere to be found. they were attending a meeting that time the dream took place. that's the prologue of the dream. no counter argument, please. anyway, i fetched jackie and we went to mcdonald's by foot. on our way to the place, we were debating on how to get to mcdonalds'. i just kept on telling her i knew where it was. when we finally reached the ff chain, i left her for a while, then went on to fetch ace. on our way to mcdonalds', the wrath of nature suddenly came. dark clouds starting to hover over us. before we reached the destination, rain started to pour. it poured as if it would never rain again. the drainage system couldn't accomodate all the water. the place was flooded in seconds! when we reached the place where mcdonalds' once stood, we couldn't locate it. ace was so angry. he thought i made a mistake. i swore to him, i was correct. the water was rising so fast. so, i thought, the massive amount of water flowing like an angry stream could have uprooted the ff chain. while we were debating, i saw a glimpse of the yellow arches. i gathered the last ounce of strenght left in my body and dragged ace to reach the building which was like a paperboat obediently following the waves of the flood. when we reached it, we went inside. looking at the people inside, it is as if they didn't know they're already floating together with dozens of other things. jackie was enjoying eating her burger. when ace reached jackie's place, they started talking. what struck me the most was ace's attitude. he didn't even mention to jackie what we went through just to reach mcdonald's. when i was looking outside, the super typhoon became more fearless. no one seemed to notice but me. after that one last look, the glass windows were shattered by the lightning. that was the last time i saw ace and jackie. i never heard anything about mommy jo and mommy ria, either. that was the end of it.

when i recounted this dream to ace, mommy ria, and jackie, ace told me it's not more of the images, it's more of the emotions i felt after having that dream. since i couldn't cry yesterday, my tears poured into my dreams. just a guess. most likely it's correct. now, you make the connection.

from sparkles to shatters

November 18, 2006

well, "re-painting" the house with glitters was not part of my plan today. i was supposed to watch the first part of amazing race marathon on axn. well, to be honest, that one wasn't part of my sked either. while cruising the cable channels, i forgot that today was the start of axn's amazing race marathon. since i didn't have scheduled activities for today, i decided to watch it. suddenly, the electricity fluctuated. then, the cable went off the signal. i had no other choice but to take a bath and proceed to my usual area in the house. then, i decided to take a supposed-to-be-daily dose of "WORD POWER" lecture. this book has provided me with a lot of things (vocabulary-wise). thanks to it, i'm more aware of the etymology and proper use of words. hahaha!

all firsts

November 16, 2006

a philosopher once theorized that human beings' mind is a tabula rasa, an empty tablet. When we were born, we were an empty slate ready to be filled with experiences, memories, and learning. every year, i'm lucky that i continue to fill my "emptiness" with new experiences — things i only dreamt about when i was a young lad. just like the previous years, i marked 2006 with a lot of new things i experienced for the very first time–some are great and some are trivialities; just the same, they're all marked number one.

goodbye. march 31st when i officially ceased my contract as a Customer Relations Specialist for Rustan's Commercial Corporation. it was my first time to submit a resignation letter. i addressed the letter to no less than the VP for Marketing Services, a Tantoco himself, Sir Joel. i expected it would be difficult to leave; not the job but the people whom i dearly called as friends. when i left rustan's, i joined Digicon Wizard Events Group, which truly marked a new chapter in my life as part of the work force.

a view from the top. june 22 on-board a Cebu Pacific flight bound for Iloilo. this was my very first time to be on a plane. i've always dreamt of riding a plane. i remember, when i was young, i played (alone) acting as if i were a business traveller. i never thought it would be this year that i'd fulfill that dream to be amid the clouds. that trip to iloilo was a first in itself. actually, a lot of firsts happened during this trip. first time to ride almost all types of transportation in one day. From the time our plane touched down in Iloilo airport, we were picked up by a private car going to Mommy Jo's ancestral house. Then, we rode a cab, a trike, then, we went to Bacolod by boat. Air, Water, and Land…we rode virtually all modes of transportation. this was the first time i visited the known Boracay. although the experience was not a perfect 10, i could still say (at last), i've been to that place.

amid the clouds (again) just recently, we went to cagayan de oro (a first for the four of us, actually). it was my first time to board philippine airlines — asia's oldest airlines. the experience was good except for the throbbing ear (the left one). it is as if my ear was going to explode. even minutes after we arrived, i still felt the pain in my left ear. i hope it was just the altitude (and nothing serious happened inside my ear). just like the usual set-up, ace and i were on the same room (room 208 then, transferred to 222), while the three girls stayed in another room (210). by the way, we stayed at the newly-constructed Mallberry Hotel beside Robinson's. for more than five times we (digicon wizard) stayed in the hotel (either in metro manila or in the province), it was my first time to appreciate the comfort the hotel gives to travellers. maybe because, that was the first time we were not "jampacked" in a room. simply amazing. we stayed in cagayan de oro for three days. i would like to mention that the people there especially Amway staff and, of course, Mr. Mario and Mrs. Evelyn Tero were so great. what they let us experienced there was an epitome of hospitality. i really thank them for the wonderful treatment they provided us. and, i should say, it was my first time i experienced living as if i were a "businessman," which i am technically. great. oh, i should also mention, Tito Nards (operations manager of amway cagayan), who resembled the look of my deceased grandfather (oh, i just missed my lolo+).

a friend on the plane. truly, expect the unexpected. on board flight PR184 (going back to Manila), on my way to my designated seat, a friend of mine approached me. i was surprised to see him on the plane. it was wacky, i friend i met during the abc-5 dokyu days. what surprised me the most was that he's already a flight attendant. the wonderful encounter was abbreviated by this b*tch, a colleague of wacky whose surname i'd never forget — SAMBILE. i really had no idea (at first) what her problem was. every time she passed by our area, she would look at me and raised her thinly-shaped eyebrows. the nerve of that girl to do that. thank me, i'm this kind of person who doesn't want to get involved in any scandalous events. argh! the thought of her makes me sick!

As of this writing, our events group is preparing for the cagayan de oro event this december. that's another reason to fly. true enough, things you really desire will come to you in God's own perfect time. who would have thought that this year, i'd be able to fly, not only once…but half a dozen in the same year?

c'est la vie!

we remember

“During those times it was human to be inhuman.” -Elie Wiesel, Holocaust Survivor

I am of no great scribe to be writing about the horrors brought forth by the Auschwitz Camp. Writing about this requires one an immeasurable amount of knowledge about the death factory. However, the immensity of the inhumanity and the simplicity of death inside the walls of the camp have stirred anger in me to shout about the horrors of the holocaust.
